Funny story for me with these. I was a young'n in Spanish Harlem, maybe nine or 10, around the time these came out. My aunt had just broken up with her boyfriend of many years but he was trying to get her back. He thought the way to her heart was through me.
So he dropped by my great-grandmother's house around the time of my birthday and offered to treat me to anything I want. Well, fuck that.. I wanted new kicks. We went to this spot on 103rd and Lex. I walked back and forth, up and down the aisles, before I settled on these. All the kids in my school were hypebeasts and had Jordans on Jordans. I wanted these.
Well, the price tag was a little more than $100, and even as a kid I felt bad about it.
He bought them for me, though. Thanks, Willie. Sorry my aunt married someone else.
Took me a while to get used to the inner sock, but these were headcrackers and I loved it.. even if I've never been the type who wanted extra attention.

@Keith...WHATTUP MY NIGGA!!!..thats an ill story...i dont even remember mine, i just know i had em and i played some ill basketball in...i remember id twist the straps out word and velcro em on the sides...so u could see the full laces showing...lol...i also got arrested in these kicks...cops took my laces out...i was like oh well i still got my straps...*does the dougie*
